Review of Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension (2011) by Sheila C — 22 Dec 2011
IMO, Phineas and Ferb is the only thing worth watching on Disney Channel these days; it manages to re-use the same plotline over and over and keep it fresh and entertaining. I thought this movie would be mediocre because they had Doofenshmirtz as the villain (seems like for a feature film they would take a different path), but was very pleasantly surprised.
Phineas and Ferb finally discover Perry's secret identity, and we see a new dimension given to the crime-fighting platypus that makes his character much more interesting than before. They played out the parallel universe idea about as well as they possibly could ("IT'S.
.. it's a couch?"), and the finale was like one big tribute to all hardcore P&F fans, and Love Handel's "musical accompaniment" on that seen rocked hard. Overall, they just about nailed the translation to full-length animation, and it'll be interesting to see how the show continues after this.
4/5 stars.
