Review of Philomena (2013) by Viccy K — 01 Mar 2014
Lovely, touching film about a woman who was forced to give up her baby for adoption. In the mid-50s, unwed mothers went to Roman Catholic convents where the children were (often) sold to parents seeking to adopt.
Philomena Lee saw her son taken away by an American couple. 50 years later, she decides to seek him out. She is assisted by a British journalist, Martin Sixsmith. An aside: I went to graduate school with the man Philomena was seeking.
