Review of Philomena (2013) by John K — 25 Oct 2014
It's based on an investigative book by Martin Sixsmith, 'The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, PHILOMENA'. It is a great grief for mothers to lose their children and such losses may not be easily filled with other things. Judi performs as an old woman whose child was fostered out for adoption with the contract that she should waive all claims for her child. The movie refers to the ethics of the church who promoted such adoption for money but skillful performances of Judi and Coogan make it a human drama rather than a social drama.
Winter sceneries of the movie location - probably, Harefield Grove Farm, UK - is extremely beautiful.
