Review of Philomena (2013) by Frances H — 15 Jan 2015
A testament to a loving woman's forgiveness of what would seem unforgivable, the film is a powerhouse vehicle for the talent of Judy Dench. It portrays the intolerance of a prior age for the plight of unwed mothers, with the misogynistic blame placed on the seduced rather than the seducer--at least we have come farther in our own time.
