This is a movie that feels formulaic at first, but if you are patient dear viewer, you'll be richly rewarded. Dench and Coogan's performances are top notch. I wanted to spend more time with Philomena, an extraordinary person in her own quiet way.
Delighted to see Stephen Frears is still making thoughtful, compelling cinema.
