Review of Philomena (2013) by Sandy K — 09 Sep 2014
The relationship between the cynical journalist and the simple-but-good-natured Irish woman searching for her long-lost son (played brilliantly by, respectively, Coogan and Dench) makes this powerful and memorable.
Themes of faith, loss, and forgiveness are handled with surprising depth, yet perfectly balanced with deft touches of humor.
