Hadn't heard much of this film other than a few good reviews. after renting it from the local Redbox I am glad I saw it. Philomena has a very touching yet pitiful story about a woman seeking to find her long lost son whom she was forced to put up for adoption.
Judi Dench is outstanding as the titular character. a woman with such a loving spirit despite all of the evil she goes through. Steve Coogan plays a good role and an interesting contrast to the Judi Dench.
they couldn't be more different in character yet they mesh so well together in their performances. this film really is one of those unexpected gems. not a lot of build up but well worth the watch.
