Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Jack K — 27 Oct 2009
I wasn't particularly blown away with any part of this movie. Tom Hanks won best actor for this movie but I though Denzel Washinton captured the screen even more so. I think its that whole if u lose weight for your role type deal.
Hanks was compelling but I wasn't sold. Also the two driving points of the plot, the whole paradigm shift, were so unconvincing to me as well. plus there was a lot of weird unneeded closeup that were trying to elicit some emotion.
In the end it was something I sat through and was mildly entertained. It does get 2 maybe 1/2 star becusae it was filmed in Philly and there are a lot of references so that rules (go Phils).
