Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Andrew G — 08 Jun 2010
Not in the same league as other films of 1993, like Schindler's List, In the Line of Fire and the Fugitive, yet still a satisfying film. Tom Hanks beat Liam Neeson for the best actor Academy Award, but I feel Neeson should have won this one.
Hanks though is still incredible, but seeing as he would get the recognition he deserved for Forrest Gump, I would have preferred for Neeson to win. Denzel Washington was fantastic as well. The story was interest, but as with most legal dramas, it seems to be more interesting during the court scenes, and most of the time outside of the court leads to desire to be in the court.
.. if that makes any sense. One of the best of its year though.
