Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Jacob F — 18 Apr 2011
I found this to be a moving and inspirational film about a man fired from the law firm he works for having AIDS and the stand he takes against the firm. I also liked the development between him and the homophobic lawyer who is defending him.
It is also an important film that convinces the audience to overcome ignorance. The greatest aspect about the film for me is the performance from Tom Hanks who won his first Oscar for the movie. And deservingly so, for he was absolutely brilliant in portraying a man suffering not only from AIDS but also from human ignorance.
Denzel Washington was also great because he succeeds in showing his characters growth and I also think he had the best lines in the movie. He delivers them with wit and confidence. Overall, I find this to be a great entry from 1993.
