Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Arianna M — 29 May 2011
An excellent courtroom drama film by the man who directed classics like the Silence of the Lambs, Jonathan Demme. This film sees Tom Cruise in one of his highlight performances of his career star as a lawyer afflicted with AIDs and focuses on how he deals with a society that does not want to deal with such a man.
Denzel Washington co-stars as a lawyer as well in another excellent role, who helps Tom Hanks fight for his legal, and human, rights. A decent plot that is made better by the fantastic performances of its leads.
