Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Hari A — 26 Oct 2012
A very informative and educating venture with respect to ignorance surrounding AIDS. Andrew Beckett (Tom Hanks) and Joe Miller (Denzel Washington) are hard working well-to-do lawyers competing against each others. But when Andrew's firm finds out that he is a homosexual and has AIDS, they fire him. Joe Miller, even though despises homosexuals fights for Andy's case, slowly unravelling the misconceptions behind AIDS.
Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington provide one of the best performances of their careers. Denzel Washington's transformation from hating homosexuals, into understanding and working with them has been portrayed very well.
A nice movie which would be a great fit for your law class.
