Review of Philadelphia (1993) by Pete L — 09 May 2011
A fantastic court room drama that has a great script.
Plot: A man is fired from his conservative law firm after it is learned that he is homosexual and has contracted AIDS. With the help of a homophobic lawyer, he files a wrongful termination suit against the firm.
This is one of those movies that has to be seen in order to understand how good it is. Tom Hanks gives his second best performance and Denzel Washington's performance is fantastic but not his best. I enjoyed Washington's character' progression. I really didn't think I would cry, but the end is sort of bittersweet.
