Review of Phenomena (1985) by Kenneth B — 29 Jan 2012
This is the weakest Argento film that I have seen. A young Jennifer Connelly and Donald Pleasance star in this bizarre horror film, not that Argento is often run-of-the-mill. Pleasance is an entomologist, Connelly is a young school girl who has a telepathic relationship with insects and sleepwalks.
There is a murderous chimpanzee and a deformed demon child, amongst other things. All that would be fine if this wasn't such a mess, there are some trademark death scenes but even they and a fine soundtrack aren't enough to make this an necessary for all but the Argento completists.
