Review of Phenomena (1985) by Adrian V — 16 Aug 2012

One of the best and the most impressive Horror film by Giallo master Dario Argento. Phenomena is a great Horror movie and it is one of the best films from Giallo master Dario Argento since his previous films like Suspiria and Deep Red.

Phenomena is a really interesting Horror movie and the plot is about a young woman name Jennifer Corvino who is the daughter of Paul Corvino who moves to a school in Romania and when she moved to her new school she also discovers that she has the ability to communicate to a lot of insects and when murders start to happen in her place she use her ability to solve all of the murders happening around town and Jennifer Corvino must solve all of the murders and find out who the real killer is with the help of Professor McGregor.

I seriously love this movie and I'm also interested to watch more of Dario Argento's films. I really had a good time watching this movie and everything about this film is perfect and I really enjoyed it so far.

This is also the film that interested me a lot on the Jennifer Connelly and I also became a fan of her because of her role and her beautiful looks in the movie as well and I really wanted to re watch this film again.

This movie has everything for a Horror movie and it was really perfect and full of impressive themes and the style is also good. What I really like about Phenomena is that the film is full of dark and gothic tones plus the film is really suspenceful as well and it also shows that director Dario Argento is a master of Giallo after all because his style in this movie is impressive and Dario Argento is completely different to director Lucio Fulci.

Everything about this movie will keep you interested from start to finish you will constantly keep watching this film over and over again. I was really fund of watching this film and the film is full of neat and powerful scenes plus everything about this movie is really good from the tone to the atmosphere, gore and performances from the casts even from the beautiful Jennifer Connelly(In her first feature film) and the great Donald Pleasance.

Everything about this movie is great and I really had a fun time watching this film so far. What I did like about this film is that the movie also has a lot of impressive visual and special effects in which it shows proof that visual and special effects are better than CGI effects all of the special effects in this movie is great and it really impressed me so far.

I also enjoyed the genre of this film since it's not only a Horror film but it's also a fantasy film because the concept of this movie in which Jennifer Corvino can communicate with insects really changed the film not only into a Horror film but more of a fantasy movie due to the style and concept of the film so far.

What I was also fund of this movie is that the soundtrack is impressive and the songs are really well used in the film. The song in the scene where Jennifer Corvino sleep walks is really nice and that scene uses atmosphere thanks to the powerful music plus I also like the main theme of the movie the main theme song really impressed me and it really kept me interested from watching the movie from start to finish so far.

What I also like about this movie is that the film also has a powerful cinematography. The cinematography in the film is impressive and I did like the lighting and dark areas in the film and the lighting helps in making a really powerful atmosphere in the movie so far.

What I was also fund of this movie is that the film also has similarities to the video game Clock Tower because the concept and the characters are just like in the video game Clock Tower and it's really cool so far.

I also enjoyed the kills in this movie and some of them are bloody, graphic and gory as well. The opening kill scene in the film is really brutal and intense so far while the other kills are gory and bloody and I did like also the last kill as well and I think the way the killer died was brutal and nasty when the monkey used the razor blade on the killer's face and I think this movie has some of the goriest kills in Horror movie history so far.

Now the acting is great of course the two main leads did a good job with they're roles in the film but I think Jennifer Connelly has the best performance in the film so far and she really did a good and fascinating job in the film with her performance plus she's so beautiful and gorgeous as well in the movie so far.

And actor Donald Pleasance did an impressive job with his role in the film as John McGregor as well so far. Director Dario Argento did a really good job with his work on this movie so far and I was really proud with the way he directed this movie and I hope he makes more good Horror movies in the future and he will be a really good director on Giallo Horror films in the future and I can't wait for more of his next films in the future and I wonder what he will do next so I hope Dario Argento will really do a good job with his work in his future films as well.

Overall Phenomena gets a 10/10 because the movie is really suspenceful and the film is also full of dark and gothic tones plus the performances of Jennifer Connelly and Donald Pleasance impressed me a lot as well.
