Review of Phantoms (1998) by Al M — 22 Sep 2011
Phantomas plays out like a boring, tired-ass Stephen King novel in which a pair of sisters return to their home town to discover everyone dead or vanished. A series of bizarre events ensure, not the least of which is that Ben Affleck has been cast as a heroic cop.
Also featuring less-than-Oscar-winning performances by Liev Schreiber and Rose McGowan, Phantoms has the potential to be a creepy supernatural/sci-fi/horror film, but it squanders it potential by seeming like a bad TV mini-series based on a Stephen King novel.
