Review of Phantoms (1998) by Alan L — 25 Apr 2014
Phantoms was the first Dean Koontz novel I read. An atmospheric horror tale that really creeped me out. The screen version (scripted by Koontz) isn't very good. There's dodgy dialogue and hammy acting.
It's very daft indeed... and that hokum is why I quite like it. Phantoms is full of jumps and scares, gloopy deaths and an ancient evil that could have been a cousin of John Carpenter's The Thing.
Entertaining nonsense.
