Review of Phantoms (1998) by Teresa S — 22 Nov 2010
A surprisingly entertaining sci fi/ creature feature about a small town in Colorado that is attacked by a strange, 'oil-like' monster hellbent on absorbing it's entire population. The cast is good (Peter O'Toole gives a wonderfully offbeat performance) and the special effects are first rate.
The script does falter in places, but the viewer will more than likely be too engrossed in the action unfolding on screen to notice any shortcomings. If you like your monster movies decent AND slightly off-kilter then this is the film for you.
Highly recommended. Adapted from the Dean Koontz novel of the same name.
