Review of Phantom Thread (2017) by Daniel R — 29 Jan 2018
One thing I will say about this film that I have never said before is that I am certain I would have liked it more if it would have had no dialogue. As I mentioned before, this film masterfully portrayed a void that existed in the relationships through the heavy silence that often consumed scenes.
There was much more said by the facial expressions and looks that the characters showed as they observed and reacted to each other. While the dialogue wasn't the worst, it felt in the way at times of the silent communication.
Had it been just the beautiful music and stunning visuals, I would have enjoyed this film much more.
