Review of Phantom Thread (2017) by Richard M — 12 Jan 2018
I'm surprised so many (92%) critics liked this movie. It was just OK, dragging on for 2 hours. The acting was good, so the fault lies in the script and possibly the director. It's hard to believe that high society would flock to Reynolds Woodcock for his design of dresses.
Very little in this movie would support this. It's also hard to believe that someone like Daniel Day Lewis would be the person chosen to be a dress designer, although his acting on an emotional level, especially his interactions with his wife and others, is believable.
But if you want to see a movie about two headstrong married persons locking horns, there have been better movies on this subject.
