Review of Phantom Thread (2017) by Bheema B — 14 Jan 2018
Great acting. Amazing Haute Couture. Beautiful sets, interesting characters. Spoiler alert! The plot unravels about 3/4 the way through when Reynolds Woodcock suddenly has a major personality shift and decides he is "in love" with his wife enough to let her poison him and keep him dependent on her for the rest of his life.
I don't buy it. Not happening. It the equivalent of going to a fabulous restaurant with wonderful service, amazing interiors, but crappy food. The direction the story takes is not believable and ultimately doesn't work.
