Review of Phantom of the Paradise (1974) by Leanne B — 22 Apr 2010
A great rock/horror/fantasy musical which is a mismash of faust, the phantom of the opera and Dorian Grey. Yet again DePalma plays tribute to his favourite directors with a shower scene that mimics Psycho and his own play on Touch of Evil's opening famous sequence.
This movie is not for everyone but if you are fans of films like Rocky Horror and Hedwig this will probably appeal. Just a shame that they plan to remake it.
