Review of Phantom of the Paradise (1974) by Léo B — 23 Jul 2013
A psychedelic, underground trip filled with wonderfully absurd and eccentric visuals and a fascinating soundtrack. De Palma's masterpiece doesn't just channel Faust, The Phantom of the Opera or Dorian Gray, it also brings in its own disillusioned view of its era and indulges gleefully in its most putrid excesses.
A marvelous experience! In one word: masterpiece!
