Review of Phantom (2013) by Gwendolyn D — 05 Mar 2013
A great movie that is sadly being panned by the critics.
This is truly a wonderful film. The acting is suburb and it is perfectly shot by the director. The only real problem that brings the movie down is sadly none of the actors actually use a Russian accent or speak in Russian. I'm guessing they didn't even bother to try. Which is truly sad because there are top notch actors in this movie such as Ed Harris, David Duchovny, and William Fichtner.
Another downer is sadly the movie is not really that long. With a run time of just about 93 minutes(without credits) this is one of the shorter submarine films there are. Which is truly sad since the movie was otherwise perfect and may have benefited even more from a longer run time.
Overall this is a wonderful film about the history of the former Soviet Union during the Cold War. Even though a majority of critics trash this film it is still a must watch for any fan of history or any fan of great acting and storytelling.
