Review of Phantasm (1979) by Kelsey H — 17 Jan 2010
I understand horror movies usually dont offer the best in the way of script and logic, but this one was exceptionally pathetic. My synopsis of the movie: Creepy 15 year old who hangs out alone in graveyard and stalks brother experiences illogical sequence of events that are intended to be frightening but instead result in confusion.
Towards the end they hinted that it might all be taking place in the kid's mind (because the "its all a dream cliche hasn't gotten super old), but it doesnt justify the lack thereof story structure or the fact that seldom anything made sense.
The only thing of interest in the movie is the flying metal pronged ball, which only makes up a very small portion of the whole movie. The message I got from this movie- "beware of midgets in cloaks".
Alright. I want 90 minutes of my life back. The only way I'd ever watch this again is if Mystery Science Theater 3000 returned to parody this haphazard mess.
