Review of Phantasm (1979) by Steve G — 25 Apr 2009
The positives were the excellent score (reminiscent of "Halloween") that plays on your nerves, the creepy atmosphere, a few scary moments and images, and a memorable ending. It's a rather strange movie overall.
As is customary for B movies in the horror genre, it has pretty bad acting and a questionable plot. The movie is a bit dated at this point and has some '70-style freakishness to it. I would say it's worth watching if you are a lover of horror movies and enjoy seeing older ones, otherwise you will probably feel like you're wasting your time with this one.
