Review of Phantasm (1979) by Michael C — 13 Dec 2012
Gave this another look off the To-Watch Pile as part of my Halloweeen marathon and it holds up amazingly well. This is a wonderfully surreal and dream-like film, and the Tall Man will haunt your dreams with his creepy balls and frequent nightmarish switcheroos as he turn into the Lady In Lavender.
These films are all great mood pieces, existing in worlds of their own logic that leave the story squarely on the shoulders of our leads, it's a very personal horror that we're shown, rarely acknowledging the world at large.
