Review of Pete's Dragon (2016) by Markadam M — 11 Aug 2016
Pete's Dragon was very good. I recommend that it be seen in the movie theater just to see Elliot. I love Elliot. They really did a good job. Those who are fond of the original may be disappointed. This is a different story from the original. The movie starts out slow then picks up about 20 minutes into the movie. The beginning was interesting but I would have done that part in a flash back scene because it is a shock to start the film that way. This beginning scene also might be a little dramatic for younger viewers.
Oakes Fegley, who plays Pete, did a really good acting job of making the audience believe that he was working with a real Dragon. If he is doing this good at this age, then he could be the next Harrison Ford or Chris Pine. Bryce Dallas Howard did such an excellent job that I didn't even recognize her as the lady in Jurassic World. Robert Redford as the story teller and father to Ms. Howard's character add the needed magic to make the film seem like a legend that could be true.
An enjoyable film that I will be glad to add to my Blu-Ray collection.
