Review of Pete's Dragon (2016) by Matt G — 02 Sep 2016
The Pete and Elliott relationship stuff is largely great; sweet, funny, and hints at How to Train Your Dragon-esque companionship. Otherwise, no human character acts how people actually act, and it's distracting.
Imagine if Spielberg didn't know anything about human behavior, and you start to get the gist. Also, as a fan of the original, the change to Elliott's life-purpose takes away some of the magic in his character.
Definitely not as good as Disney's other recent live-action remakes (Jungle Book, Cinderella).
