Review of Pete's Dragon (2016) by Tim M — 13 Sep 2016
Sweet family movie. I was surprised how much I actually really liked it. I am glad my little ones watched (aged 5 and 8) because yes it featured an imaginary creature, but it also didn't insult the ability of kids to process loss by not skimping around real-life issues, such as the death of family members.
While there are some holes in the plot ( such as, what did Pete eat over the 6 years he was in the woods with the dragon? The guy who was trying to catch the dragon had no idea why he wanted to catch it when asked.
The guy who saw the dragon before totally mischarcterized it later on when telling kids stories about it) I feel it was still worth seeing it in theater.
