Review of Pete's Dragon (2016) by Tatsuhito K — 26 Dec 2016
This is one of the biggest surprises of the year. I really liked David Lowery's "Pete's Dragon" and it's one of my favourite movies of the year. As someone who is not a huge fan of live-action Disney films, I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely and suitably old fashioned it was.
It's solidly made, well acted, and beautifully shot. It is full of heart and soulful charm, and at times it teared me up a bit. I loved the design of Elliot the dragon, and the chemistry between him and Pete was so perfect that I absolutely believed in their relationship.
Here is an excellent family entertainment that both adults and young children can thoroughly enjoy, but I think this will speak more toward adults (i also loved how it incorporated themes of nature preservation.
) it's great.
