Starts off a bit slow... to the point where I almost turned it off. I'm glad I didn't. This is a completely different movie than the 1977 version. No abusive families, or teachers, or bad guys trying to make money off of anything.
Different town different story. The addition of a child female friend for Pete, was a fantastic idea. This is such a heartwarming tale, with a bit of a "bad guy" but even in the end, not a terrible villain.
The last 30 - 45 minutes are all tear-jerking moments, which I was not at all prepared for....
