Review of Pete's Dragon (2016) by Lee J — 29 Sep 2016
Much like the remake of the Jungle Book, Disney retells an old story busing new new technology to transport us into the film in a way they couldn't before. It's tugs on the typical heart string of this genre much like ET or Iron Giant but it's very pleasant to watch. It is a bit slow paced and you get children make get restless.
I've heard some disgruntled people make remarks about how Disney doesn't make mew content, however I think they forget that original stories take time. Disney's original movies are far and few between because they're done really well. I mean look how long it took to get Finding Dory or Monsters University. In the mean time they take advantage of today's technology to immerse viewers into stories the way film makers couldn't before.
