Review of Pete's Dragon (1977) by Ben D — 23 Apr 2010
Not always listed as one of Disney's greatest moments, Pete's Dragon is a sleeping success that deserves far more praise than it achieves.
Not only one of the first movies to incorporate animation into live action film, but also recieving an Academy Award for the song "Candle on the Water", one of Disney's best lyrical songs. The cast make this a good old fashioned comedy worth seeing, with a fantastic performance by Jim Dale. An actor perfect for the role.
Pete's Dragon has been given a gracious place in many true Disney fan's hearts, and has been inspiration for episodes of both Family Guy and Pushing Daisies. If this is a Disney film that's passed you by, be sure to catch up with it and provide it 90 minutes of your time. It'll be time well spent!
