Review of Pete's Dragon (1977) by Allan C — 24 Nov 2017

I recently saw the new live action version of this film. After watching it I realized I have never seen the original 1977 version and decided to give it a look. The original version of "Pete's Dragon" is pretty forgettable.

Helen Ready and the late Mickey Rooney do well in their respective roles as does the cast as a whole for that matter. However that is pretty much all that I can say about this movie that's positive.

It's story is formulaic and by the numbers. It's also too long and the songs are not very good or memorable for that matter. In the end, the original version of "Pete's Dragon" has too many flaws for me to recommend it.

It's just not worth your time.
