Review of Pet Sematary (1989) by John M — 17 Mar 2009
A brilliant film adaption of the Stephen King novel of the same name.
In case you haven't heard of the film before, 'Pet Sematary' follows the Creed family moving to a country house, almost perfect, except the road where large trucks roll down without a care in the world and the pet cemetary (misspelled sematary) behind the house. Oh, and the indian burial ground that raises the dead.
The acting is almost perfect through out the film, a great plot, and the effects are great.
As said the acting is 'almost perfect'. The problem is that, at times, the acting seems unbelievable, probably because what they're saying is the same, with no real effect on the plot, it's just something that they put in.
The true star of this film however goes to Miko Hughes who plays Gage Creed. I'm not talking about the part where he's alive and well at the beginning, I'm talking about the part where he's ressurected and wrecking havoc. He's brilliant as the undead child and just as creepy. Amazingly he was only 3 years old when this film was made. Fred Gwynne is a close second, great actor.
Overall a great film, definately one of the best of it's time.
