I love stephen king, but it's well known that films based on King works tend to be sub-par. Fred Gwynne makes this movie and it wouldn't be as good as it is without him.
Ultimately the idea that these seemingly normal parents would pay so little attention to their child that they would just let him wander off is frankly unbelievable.
