Review of Pet Sematary (1989) by Alec M — 10 Jun 2013
I have enjoyed several King books; unfortunately, pet semetary had not been one of them before I saw this turkey. the movie is filled with extremely cheap thrills masquerading as scares; (spoiler alert!) one involves a baby knifing six-foot-five fred gwynne in the neck, and another has that same baby (as an undead) being LETHALLY INJECTED.
it is made in such a way that the director seems to dislike her audience, though this was a hit. perhaps king's fans at the time didn't bother reading the reviews for this one. (the book is one of his most popular) dated special effects and bad acting don't help.
(fans of fred gwynne like myself should avoid this one at all costs) based on the King books that I have read, I can't emphasize to read the book strongly enough.
