Review of Pet Sematary (1989) by Hanna M — 19 Nov 2010
Pet Sematary has lost some of its creepy, horrific power since I was an 11-year-old boy, but it still remains a truly macabre and disturbing piece of filmmaking. Pet Sematary remains one of the better King adaptations, and the film manages to create a gothic vibe infused with truly horrific occurrences.
Essentially a bizarre take on the zombie genre, Pet Sematary examines the nature of human grief and our inability to accept death as a natural fact of existence. Although some of Pet Sematary's originally creepy moments have become cheesy by today's standards, the film still exudes decay, damnation, and derangement that still marks it as a must-see for any serious fan of horror.
