Review of Personal Effects (2009) by Lisa H — 28 Jan 2010
Same as in Spread. Ashton Kutcher tries, but he just doesn't get it right just yet. People say that one should do what one does well, but I must disagree. It's great to take risks, and Ashton Kutcher does that, so GREAT for him.
This film is full of flaws. It's impossible to actually care for the characters, and I believe this is the worst acting job I've seen of Mr. Kutcher. But for the reasons I mention here and I did about Spread, I really admire him for that; for not staying in a comfort zone.
I hate his comedies, so I like people who are able to risk maybe their careers in order to achieve what they really want. GREAT for Kutcher for sure. As for Michelle Pfeiffer, she looks so grey here. That's a pity, because I think she's one of the most beautiful and talented women in cinema.
