Having watched 2 of Bergman's movies previously and thoroughly enjoying them, I came into watching Persona full of hope that I was going to see another masterpiece but what I got was something which bored the hell out of me.
The opening montage is confusing and prompted me to think what's the point of all this. The movie as a whole is a complete waste of time: pretentious, dull and hollow. Flashbacks, apparent dreams, repeated scenes, unexplained images.
None of it worked for me. I just hope the next Bergman movie I watch will be better than this. Disappointing.
