Review of Persona (1966) by Alison S — 15 Nov 2008
This was really quite a bizarre and disorientating piece of work. Watching the opening scene over and over was is really the highlight in this juxtaposition that seems to imply some sort of adolescence, especially the child at the end and male adolescence too what more.
I was fixated heavily on the characters, always rewinding to grasp sentences and words and constantly amazed at this striking portrayal of acting that is both self-reflexive in the inability of the actress to carry on and the nurse display of wonder at this magnificent performance.
A hard film, not easy to digest immediately but very captivating in how every image lingers on for a long time.
