Review of Persona (1966) by Patryk C — 23 Jul 2012
Somewhat of a phychological horror, dialogue driven, drama. Many will just classify this as a drama, but there is so much more to it than that. The dialogue here tells stories that put more horrific images in our heads than the actual film does.
The only problems I had with this almost perfect film in it's experimentation is that it isn't something that you would ever want to watch more than once, and in some ways, it is like a tool to art film students to be more creative in film-making.
This is a very personal film, and I can only imagine that Ingmar Bergman is the type of film-maker that only makes films as such. There was also some editing choices in the last few minutes of this film that are up for discussion and somewhat don't make sense to me.
Otherwise, this is a solid feature for film geeks alone.
