Review of Persepolis (2007) by Rebekah S — 01 Sep 2009
Much more than a story about Iran, Iranian history, or even women and their longing for freedom in Iran... PERSEPOLIS is a deeply personal journey of one person from girlhood to adulthood, dealing with the obstacles in her path -- which although unique also mirror universal struggles that all people must face in the process of learning to be honest (or not).
Far beyond the achievement of showing what the turbulent culture of Iran is like, PERSEPOLIS shows how similar people can be internally if we only look beyond the veil.
