Review of Persepolis (2007) by April W — 04 Sep 2009
Not knowing anything about the Islamic Revolution, I was a little confused at first but the filmmaker does an excellent job catching up so-to-speak. I honestly enjoyed watching this film, showing a young girl growing up in the 70's during the revolution mainly because I always assumed Iran was always as it is now.
I felt it wouldn't have been as interesting had it not been in the original graphic novel format and if I had watched the version dubbed in English instead of French. For one minor instance, it was fun to hear Marjane speaking French then busting out "Eye of the Tiger" in rough English.
