Review of Persepolis (2007) by Ifiok O — 28 Feb 2010
It's a pretty moving animated feature, one that utilizes an array of different emotional tones to convey the amazing life of a young girl who grew up during the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Hers is a story of hope of others being lost, and the search to find her own even as fundamentalists take over.
The simple images in black and white really work here, complementing the illustration of the original comic book source, which is itself is pretty inspirational.
