Review of Persepolis (2007) by Paul B — 06 Aug 2009
Persepolis is a beautiful film. Marjane Satrapi's story is a classic coming-of-age tale, caught up in the whirlwind of the Iranian Revolution of 1979.
It's sad, whimsical, and filled with warmth and humor. At times I found myself holding back tears while simultaneously laughing.
It's also, visually, one of the greatest works of animation I've ever seen. Its beautiful black-and-white art sets exactly the right tone.
