Review of Persepolis (2007) by Lord N — 07 Aug 2010
I got the book for this one at my college orientation about a week or so ago. As far as non-kids animated films go, this is one of the best I've seen. it is certainly the most serious one. I really liked it. I thought the story was amazing. It fascinated me I never really knew much about the history of Iran, but this movie taught me quite a bit about it. The animation style was also very interesting and great to look at. I don't know much else to say except, go out and see it for yourself if you haven't already.
TRIVIA TIME: 1. France's official submission for the Best Foreign-Language Film category at The 80th Annual Academy Awards.
2. Iran's government sent a letter to the French embassy in Tehran to protest against the movie and pressured the organizers of the 2007 Bangkok Film Festival to drop it from the lineup. Also, Wellington, New Zealand - In July, 2008 the Iranian embassy angrily protested the screening of Persepolis during the 37th Wellington Film Festival.
