Review of Persepolis (2007) by Soheil W — 26 Jul 2011

So, it's kind of strange watching a French animated film about an Iranian girl (while reading English subtitles). Anyway, that doesn't matter, but it's worth noting. I like the animation style but not the way the characters are animated.

Still, this is at times (though rarely) beautiful. Mostly it's ugly or satirical or attempting to be funny, but there's that rare occasion of beauty. I guess the big problem I have with this is that it feels like it drags on forever, even though the running time is only 90 minutes.

Yeah, it can be pretty boring at times. The story is very good, but this isn't the right way to present it.
