Review of Permission (2018) by Jerod S — 22 Aug 2018
Good gawd. The ending is unsatisfying and leaves things hanging, while much of the character development is toward the selfish and immature. Feels like a student film with regard to story, dialogue, and chunks of the direction. However, the narcissistic, self-aware, predatory nature of the female protagonist against the feminized straight males feels all too millennial. And the "perfect" female, who supposedly attracts men easily due to her looks, was a total miscast. It was like watching the physical attributes and sex appeal of Amelia Earhart play a role meant for Jessica Alba. Cringeworthy.
On the plus side - although somewhat unevenly while avoiding the female form - male nudity was supported, but sex scenes lacked chemistry and were oddly truncated; it was like a LIfetime movie in that sense...making for "strange bedfellows". Also, much of the cast had strong acting skills, especially with what they'd been given.
